My work reflects my roots in Cape Cod and Maine, with worldwide travels in between. Starting with a still life construction: arrangements of broken whelk shells, organic dried objects, or a pile of bizarre tools, I work in a gestural and spontaneous way. My favorite materials are heavy rag paper, pastels, charcoal and conte crayons, graphite, brushes, acrylic paints and mediums, gesso, and velvety silkscreen inks. I may add pasted rice paper elements, pattern tissue, torn silkscreens, and recycled artwork from the past.
